Backstop is a Chicago based company that makes SaaS applications for alternative asset managers. Over the last ten years, we have grown considerably, won several awards and built a lot of great software. Backstoppers take our customers and our service very seriously but pride ourselves on not taking ourselves too seriously in the process.
The Professional Services Group is looking for an energetic, team-oriented individual interested in a Project Management career path. This is a non-technical, billable role managing the successful implementation of Backstop’s enterprise software suite. Junior Project Managers learn about the alternative investment industry, manage small projects, reconcile data, create complex reports, and delight our clients. The Junior Project Manager also participates in internal knowledge sharing and other projects.
Position is available in Chicago Loop or New York Manhattan location.
Responsibilities/Experience/Skills/Education:
- Become an expert in Backstop Solutions Group's Implementation methodology and use it on all Projects.
- Demonstrate competency in the Backstop Solutions Group product suite.
- Review data, configure software and create reports for clients.
- Communicate milestones and budgetary updates to clients.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects
- Actively contribute to client satisfaction.
- Train client users on Backstop software.
- Identify opportunities to position other service offerings.
- Share knowledge and expertise with other Professional Service team members.
- Balance internal engagement with client expectations and project deliverables.
- Participate in the sales cycle when requested to gather requirements, formulate delivery approach and estimate effort.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 1+ years of consulting experience or working with clients.
- Ability to engage and delight customers.
- Working knowledge of Excel software is highly desired and will be evaluated in the interview process.
- Previous experience or internship at a Hedge Fund, FOF, PE, Endowment, Pension or service provider is desired.
- Previous experience or internship with a major systems integrator and/or enterprise software implementation experience is a plus.
- Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills.
- Live (or relocate yourself) in the Chicago/New York area and work in a Backstop office. Ability to travel up to 15% (e.g. 1 week every 2 months).
