What To Expect
At Backstop, we expect recruiting and hiring to proceed at a brisk pace. We think it's a waste of time for resumes and interview feedback to rot on a hiring manager's desk for weeks. Generally, the faster we get to act on our thoughts, the more positive the outcome. We also understand that since you're awesome, we've got just as much to prove to you as you do to us.
After you've sent us a resume that catches our eye, we'll want to set up a phone conversation. The phone call will cover many topics, primarily technical. For example, if you're a developer, you'll convince us that not only can you code, but you can code thoughtfully, with purpose, and in a manner that other superb developers can relate to. We'll also spend some time making sure the culture and environment at Backstop is one that you'll feel at home in.
Still with us? Awesome! You wowed us over the phone and now we've got to have you visit our office for some face and keyboard and pencil/paper time with technical folk from every corner of our team (don't worry about dressing up for the interview; most of the Backstoppers you encounter will be sporting jeans, etc). Every candidate has a different show to run, so you'll want to make sure you give us the entire afternoon so we dont feel rushed. Your visit will be super technical, so make sure you're ready to think hard. For example, if you're a developer, we'll sit down and hack out some code together that we'll run on the spot and if we've got time, we'll also have you model some scenarios for us to show that you know how to think about problems in the abstract.
Whew! What a day. We hope we made as positive an impression on you as you did for us. Give us a day or so to finalize on what we consider to be one of the most important decisions we make at Backstop, and we'll get back in touch sooner than you might expect.
